FrameStep is a specialized video player that facilitates frame-by-frame navigation, catering primarily to animators and VFX artists, though its functionality is accessible to any user engaging in video review.
The application features an intuitive single-screen control interface that streamlines basic operations such as play, pause, and frame advancement, alongside timeline scrubbing. For enhanced usability, tapping the four quadrants of the video screen enlarges control targets. Users connecting an external keyboard will find additional functionalities, including speed adjustments, complementing the standard controls.
Videos can be imported through FrameStep's interface, the Files app, or the Share sheet from other applications. It is important to note that FrameStep does not have direct access to media stored in the Photos app; users must first transfer videos to the Files app to view those created on their iPad or iPhone.
